Vashi is the oldest settlement region in Mumbai and is also the most densely populated part of the city. It is core of commercial and residential development of the city. This region experiences heavy rains because of the adjoining western cost and the Western Ghats.

It is one of the important stations on the Harbour Line of local railway network connecting suburbs of Mumbai.
